Freddie the Fish Project
For a second consecutive year, Scenic Projects have had the privilege of working alongside Lowestoft Vision on their Annual Summer Trail. This year’s project saw ‘Freddie the Fish’ and 19 of his bespoke designed friends hiding in and around local businesses throughout the town centre.
“Lowestoft Vision approached us three years ago to paint one turtle. They were so pleased with our artwork, they then approached us to redesign and repaint 16 turtles the following year, five of which were designed by local schools. This proved a great success around town with some excellent feedback. This year, we were asked to take on the project again, but this time using a fish character.” - Nick Garrod, Managing Director
Each of the hand-crafted fish was given a unique name and design to represent their breed. The skilled process began with Scenic Projects’ in-house design team conjuring up a creative and colourful motif for each character. When asked to highlight his favourite part of the process, Head Designer Stephen Wilson said he most enjoyed, “the challenge of creating 20 very different and quite imaginative fish designs, using the name of the fish as a simple starting point”. Once the designs were selected, the construction began; first with creating the fibre-glass shells and then a long process of filling and shaping to create a sleek and smooth finish.
Following the delicate fabrication of each fish, our team of Scenic Artists had the magical job of bringing them to life. Once Freddie and his friends were polished and glazed they were ready for their press-release!
‘Freddie’ and his friends were delivered by Scenic Projects in time for the grand opening of the Lowestoft Festival for their official unveiling. Each unique model was then distributed to their assigned hideaway where they remained until the end of the Summer Trail on September 3rd.
“I was really excited to see the finished result…the colours were amazing and the designs really captured people’s imaginations!” - Lowestoft Vision
Scenic would like to congratulate Lowestoft Vision on another successful project and hope that the local town has enjoyed discovering these fun and unique sculptures. We look forward to seeing the theme for next year!
“Lowestoft Vision feel very proud to work alongside Scenic projects, and we hope to continue to do so. Their work is always impressive, and we know they work incredibly hard. We would like to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to all the team involved in this project.” - Lowestoft Vision
